Suntech Strengthens High-Efficiency Cell Technologies for Greater Performance and Reliability

As the global PV industry moves toward higher efficiency and long-term reliability, solar cells are becoming increasingly critical to overall system performance and energy yield.

Following its strategic integration with HY SOLAR, Suntech is leveraging enhanced full value chain coordination—from silicon materials to cell manufacturing—to build a more scalable and performance-driven cell technology platform. As the bridge between upstream materials and downstream modules, solar cells directly impact conversion efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle value.

Backed by HY SOLAR’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and Suntech’s global quality standards, the company continues to enhance production consistency and scalable delivery through intelligent manufacturing systems.

Innovation at the Core

Suntech’s N-type TOPCon cell technology integrates a range of advanced technologies designed to enhance both efficiency and long-term reliability. Through innovations including Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon), PECVD poly deposition, multi-layer dielectric film structures, LECO optimization technology, edge passivation (ALD), and Poly-finger design, the company continues to improve carrier transport, light absorption, contact performance, and overall cell stability. Together, these technologies enable higher conversion efficiency, optimized manufacturing performance, and enhanced durability across diverse operating conditions.

Advancing N-Type Efficiency

Suntech’s N-type TOPCon cells have advanced to the 3.0 stage, achieving conversion efficiencies of up to 27.5%.

At the same time, reliability performance continues to improve, with first-year degradation limited to no more than 1%, annual linear degradation as low as 0.35%, and power retention reaching at least 88.85% after 30 years.

Building on the TOPCon 3.0 cell technology, Suntech further integrates advanced quarter-cut cell architecture to reduce resistive losses, mitigate hotspot risks, and enhance structural reliability under complex operating conditions.

Built for Consistency

Through fully digitalized production processes, real-time MES/SPC monitoring, and vertically integrated value chain coordination, Suntech ensures stable output, consistent product quality, and stronger alignment between material performance and cell processes at scale.

Combined with 100% EL/PL inspection, the company maintains high standards in both electrical performance and manufacturing reliability, while enhancing supply stability, manufacturing resilience, and long-term product consistency in a rapidly evolving market.

Shaping What’s Next

Alongside continued TOPCon advancement, Suntech is accelerating the development of next-generation technologies including XBC and perovskite-silicon tandem, supported by ongoing R&D investment and collaborative innovation to further expand its future technology portfolio.

Through continuous innovation and full value chain integration, the company is building a more efficient, reliable, and future-ready PV ecosystem while remaining committed to delivering long-term value and supporting the global transition toward clean energy.
