Suntech Ultra T 3.0 Quarter-Cut Module Achieves IEC Certification from TÜV Rheinland

Suntech has been awarded IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 certifications by TÜV Rheinland Greater China (TÜV Rheinland). This milestone confirms that the Ultra T 3.0 quarter-cut module—built on the TOPCon 3.0 cell technology—meets international standards in efficiency, safety, reliability, and environmental adaptability. It also highlights the product as an example of advanced integration of N-type technology and structural innovation. The certification ceremony was attended by Mr. Zhou Xuewei of TÜV Rheinland and Mr. Vincent Cao, Chief Executive Officer of Suntech.

Certification Builds Global Trust

IEC 61215 (performance) and IEC 61730 (safety) are essential benchmarks for photovoltaic modules entering global markets, covering durability, mechanical strength, long-term reliability, and electrical safety. Achieving both certifications demonstrates strong recognition of Suntech’s innovation, manufacturing capabilities, and product quality.

The certification validates the module’s performance in extreme environments, long-term stability, and system-level safety, supporting Suntech’s continued expansion in global markets.

25 Years of Innovation

With 25 years of PV expertise, Suntech continues to advance R&D, with TOPCon 3.0 cell efficiency exceeding 27.5%. The Ultra T 3.0 modules achieve a bifaciality rate of up to 90%, with first-year degradation ≤1% and annual degradation as low as 0.35%, ensuring strong long-term reliability.

Quarter-cut technology reduces operating current and resistive losses, improving power output and heat distribution while minimizing hotspot risks. Compatible with high-density spacing designs, it increases effective light-receiving area and energy yield. With edge passivation and advanced thin-film processes mitigating cutting-related defects, the modules also offer strong performance under low-light conditions and resistance to micro-cracks and mechanical loads, ensuring reliable operation across the lifecycle.

The TÜV Rheinland certification provides strong industry validation of Suntech’s technology roadmap. Moving forward, Suntech will continue advancing N-type and structural innovation to deliver higher-efficiency, more reliable PV solutions, supporting the global energy transition.
